The Carrick Academy Nature Club has become a popular place to be in school.
It is 'officially' open to S1 through to S3 pupils however we welcome any members who wish to stay on in their senior years in school. This is of particular benefit to younger and new members as we encourage a mentoring system so skills are passed on through year groups.
The Nature Club is based in what is known as the Open Area in the Science Faculty. This is a large, airy, bright space well stocked with displays, plants and information boards. There is also a 120litre cold water aquarium stocked with a variety of common and oranda goldfish. The area has an indoor greenhouse which allows planting schemes to carry on through the winter months. The Open Area leads out into an outdoor area which is slowly being converted into a school garden. It has a second greenhouse, raised beds for planting vegetables, fruits and plants and seating areas.
