THE CARRICK CENTRE, MAYBOLE
The Carrick Centre is situated by the railway station in the centre of Maybole. Just over a year ago the Nature Club was approached by the centre regarding creating a garden on the site. Initially the area was overgrown with weeds but with a bit of hard work and great enthusiasm the site was cleared. The ground was covered in weed suppressing membrane and then a thick dense layer of chipped bark. Once the weather has warmed up a bit a range of recycled planters will be put in place. At the moment whisky barrels decorate along the front of the Centre. More will be purchased and they will join Belfast sinks which have been saved from the art rooms of Carrick Academy. Seasonal plants will decorate them and a range of climbers will cover the fence at the back of the site. Eventually a seat will be put in one of the corners facing towards Greenside.
